Update: 20090421
Several things are in progress:
1. Tim KD5KTB has one sheet of cork and glue to affix it to one of the walls. Probably the East wall. Once we see how that looks we will purchase at least one more sheet to enlarge the area to post information.
2. Ten Batteries (AGM 12v 93ah) were donated by Central Machine and Tool. Two will be allocated for ARES. Two will be used for the 147.150 repeater located in the club room as power backup. A charger that will automatically switch to 12v battery backup is in the process of being purchased for use with the repeater. Five batteries have been taken by club members for personal use and Donations are suggested and any received will go toward the purchase of the charger. One battery is still available on first come basis. Contact Tim.
3. The Yaesu FT-900 HF rig has been connected to a Dell computer that was donated by the Hillsdale School. This has enabled remote control of the HF station via the internet. Training is required if you are interested in using this equipment. Currently it is available for RX only. You can change frequencies and pretty much control the radio. TX may be enabled in the future. Contact Tim-KD5KTB.
4. Tim has been asked to setup an HF station capable of connecting into EchoLink conferences. This ability has been found useful by the ARRL in monitoring disaster and emergency situations. With the remote capability already operational on the FT-900, Tim plans to enable Echolink with this system as well.
5. Recently a new antenna was installed on top of the club tower. A dualband vertical by diamond. Tim installed a diplexer (Actually a tri-plexer with one dummyload) enabling the 147.150 repeater as well as the IRLP (446.0500) to be connected to the same antenna improving coverage for both.
6. There is also a new used Toshiba laptop (Win98 era) setup in the club room, but more work is needed on the setup and it may need to be reloaded to be completely operational.
7. Don't forget the new coupler that was also installed not too long ago and is being used with the FT-900.
